Courage! A Civil War in Washington, an interactive
interpretation of life in Washington, D.C. during the War Between
the States, will premiere April 12, 2003. Scheduled to debut just
days before the 138th anniversary of the death of Abraham Lincoln,
the latest production of Historic Strolls features performances
and stories about life during wartime in Victorian Washington, led
by a guide portraying a "citizen of Washington City".
Courage! tours begin at 10th and E Streets, NW (Cosi Coffee
and Sandwiches) at
11:00 am. Tickets are $10.00 adults, $5.00 children under 12 for
this premiere. Take away a new impression of a familiar city,
along with a Civil War recipe to try at home. A portion of
proceeds benefits Forgotten Children, working to improve the
conditions of children living in difficult circumstances through
advocacy, research, training, and projects, especially in the area
of education.
Historic Strolls tours feature local Washington, DC area talent
portraying historical characters in interpretive era costume.
Natalie Zanin, local guide/actor and tour writer/director, has
been featured in Washingtonian Magazine, the Washington Post, the
Washington Times; and on Fox Morning News, WUSA, the History
Channel, French and Canadian television, and others. She has
produced in-house tours for the Historical Society of Washington
and walking tours for other non-profit organizations such as the
DC Heritage Tourism Coalition.
